“Clear Eyes, Full Heart, Can’t Lose,” made popular by the award-winning TV series Friday Night Lights, has always resonated with me. This is especially true as people set their New Year’s resolutions. Reportedly, only 8% of people achieve their New Year’s Resolutions. What if we made it impossible to fail instead of hoping to complete our New Year’s resolutions?

Clear Eyes, Full Heart, Can't Lose

Vision Matters:

Lack of clarity, particularly in our vision, is a major culprit in the struggle to achieve our goals.

Your vision should be so vivid and compelling that it propels you into immediate action.

“For my whole life, I had an unusual talent to see things very clearly in front of me… If I could see it in my mind, I thought it must be achievable. There is no doubt that you can make your vision a reality.”

Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Defining a Clear Vision:

What does it mean to have a clear vision?

Tony Robbins puts it this way,

“Choose your goal. Something that would give you a tremendous sense of excitement if you were to accomplish it this year. Something that would make you feel that if you achieved this goal this year, your life was well-invested.”

Your vision is the compass that guides your actions and decisions. It sets the stage for your journey and determines how far you can grow.

Clarifying Your Vision:

To refine your vision, consider asking yourself: What will happen if you achieve it? What will happen if you don’t?

These clarifying questions help crystallize the importance of your goals. They add depth and meaning to your pursuit.

Six Sigma Tools for Clarity:

As Six Sigma practitioners, we have powerful tools that go beyond process improvement. Tools like Porter’s Five Forces and client feedback (think CTQs) can shape a clear vision. These insights drive focused, strategic actions.

Take Action:

Revisit your goals for this year and reassess your vision. Is it crystal clear? Does it light a fire within you? Use clarifying questions and perhaps these Six Sigma tools to refine your vision. Make it a force that propels you toward success.

Remember, a clear vision is not only a roadmap; it’s the fuel that propels you forward.
