I’m Ted Hessing, and Six Sigma Study Guide is my site. I built it originally as my own study notes for the ASQ and Villanova Black Belt exams, and it grew from there into a resource other people studying for Six Sigma and Lean Six Sigma certifications use too. This page explains what I publish, who it’s for, and why, along with how the site is owned and funded.
What I Write About
Everything on this site falls into one of a few buckets: explanations of Six Sigma and Lean tools and concepts, study guides organized around the major certification bodies (ASQ, IASSC, and Villanova), practical case studies showing these tools used on real problems, and the occasional newsletter piece on studying, careers, and applying this material at work. I don’t publish general business news, unrelated productivity content, or anything outside process improvement and the certifications built around it.
Who It’s For
I write for people studying for a Six Sigma or Lean Six Sigma certification, and for working professionals trying to apply these tools on real projects. Some readers are brand new to the material; others are experienced practitioners looking for a specific reference. I try to write so both can get something useful out of the same page, favoring real clarity over jargon for its own sake.
Why I Publish This
I couldn’t find a single, trustworthy place to learn this material when I was studying for my own certifications, so I built the resource I wished existed. That’s still the goal: help people actually pass their exam and use what they learned afterward, rather than just memorize it and forget it.
Ownership and Funding
Six Sigma Study Guide is a sole proprietorship. I own and run it myself. The site is funded by its own products (the Pass Your Six Sigma Green Belt and Black Belt courses, and related study guides), along with affiliate and sponsorship revenue from a small number of relevant partners. I don’t take grants or outside funding, and I don’t accept payment in exchange for favorable coverage of a product or service. Any time a page includes an affiliate link or a sponsored mention, it’s disclosed on that page. See the Ethics Policy for the full disclosure standard.
