Ex. Smoking

Driving Forces: Higher taxes, advertising campaigns by celebrities, court cases.
Restraining Forces: Peer pressure, billboard advertisements, habit.

How to Use a Force Field Analysis

  1. Determine the forces favoring the goal (Driving)
  2. Determine opposing forces (Restraining)
  3. Find ways to add to driving forces.
  4. Find ways to remove or lessen the restraining forces.
